Common Tech Issues

The Practice Test needs Windows Internet Explorer in a Windows operating system to work correctly.

Hear Audio, But Don’t See Video

The video files in the FrontLine Practice Test use the Windows Media Player to stream over the internet or play off of the CD ROM. Click here to play the sample video. If it does not play, you may need to update your version of Windows Media Player or the video codecs it uses.

All versions of Windows Media Player must be able to update their video codecs, this may be all you need to do. Open Windows Media Player, click on “Tools”, “Options” and under the Player tab, make sure that “Download codecs automatically” is clicked. See illustration on right.

If that does not work, Windows Media Player ver. 9 is the latest version and the best for playing the practice test. You can download the latest version for your operating system HERE.

Ergometrics and FrontLineTest.com accept no responsibility for conflicts that may arise from the installation of Windows Media Player on your system.

New Window Does Not Open

If the new page does not appear when you copy and paste your password, it is anti pop up software, or pop up blockers. Many systems have more than one instances of blocking software running.

Just to confirm, sometimes the new window opens behind the "If you do not see the new window" message. Did you check your status bar at the bottom of your browser to see if a new widow opened?

Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 has a built in pop up blocker.

There are so many different anti-pop-up softwares on the market that it is difficult to know where to begin. If someone other than yourself configured your computer, ask them. In the pull down menu up top of your browser, check Tools/Options, or Internet Options. Check all your pull down menus for anything that says Settings or Properties. Check your firewall settings if you have one. Somewhere on your browser or desk top, there should be a little icon that relates to Pop-up Blocking. In your internet account, there may be a switch for pop up blockers. The sources of pop up blocking can be; your internet service provider, your browser, your search engine, your security program, or your computer manufacturer.

Test Plays the First Video, Then Stops

This is a known Microsoft bug, we have developed a work around.

If the test will not progress past the end of the first video, there is a secret button that will advance the test at the end of the video.

CAUTION: Only click this button at the end of a video, wait a few seconds to make sure the test is not advancing on it's own. If you click in the middle of a video, you will not be able to go back!

You'll find the button at the red arrow. See below.
